STUDENT VISA POLICIES - UK
The Student Visa in the UK, formerly known as the Tier 4 (General) visa, is the immigration permission that allows international students to study in the country. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, please note that immigration policies may have changed, and it’s advisable to check the latest information on the official UK government website or consult with the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) for the most up-to-date details.
To receive a student visa for UK
- Hold an unconditional offer of a place on a course at a UK institution with a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the university.
- Demonstrate that you can financially support yourself during your studies. This includes tuition fees and living expenses. The amount required may vary depending on the location of the institution.
- Provide evidence of your English language proficiency through an approved English language test, such as IELTS. The required score may vary depending on the institution and course.
- A medical check-up at a doctor approved by the immigrant department of Australia to confirm that you are in good health is mandatory.
Post-Study Work
As of my last update in January 2022, the UK reintroduced the Post-Study Work Visa, known as the Graduate Route. This allows international students who have completed a degree at a UK institution to stay and work, or seek employment, in the UK for up to two years (or three years for doctoral graduates).
