Process of registration as a nurse in New Zealand
Following are the standard requirements one must meet for registration–
- You must have the required English language ability Academic IELTS bands 7 in each of the four modules of reading, writing, listening and speaking or an equivalent OET score 350.
- You must have been registered as a nurse in the country where you received the nursing education and hold current registration/license (in that or another country). The nursing qualification must be comparable to a Bachelor of Nursing degree in New Zealand.
- You must be able to provide evidence of practice as a Registered Nurse for at least 2 years within the last 5 years.
- You must be able to demonstrate that you are fit to practice the profession.
After completion of the initial criteria, you would get a notification from the nursing council New Zealand to complete a Competency Assessment Programme NZ before registration

The CAP program is a full-time course of 8 to 12 weeks with clinical practice which is arranged by the college from where you do your Competency Assessment program

The average cost for CAP ranges from NZD 9000 to 12000 depending on the college where you do your CAP Program.
Process after completion of the CAP program
Once you successfully complete the program you get a complete registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand and are qualified to work as a nurse in New Zealand as you have completed the nursing requirements of NZ.
